Hardcover books :D {mt. pleasant, tx engagement and portrait photographer}

February 28, 2011

I was taking pictures of hardcover books for my third week of The *I love* project, and I was inspired to do a blog post here about my love for them :).

Hardcover books. What’s funny is I used to hate hardcover books! I thought they were annoying to read from and I thought “Paperbacks are so much cheaper!” But then I began to realize that paperbacks don’t last very long if you read them a lot :/. So, now I adore hardcover books (and if they’re pretty, that’s even better!).

This is the spot on our sun porch where I love to read :). But sometimes I get distracted by the beauty outside the big windows; like the birds coming to the bird feeder…or a funny squirrel attempting to :D.

Oh, and these books that I photographed are just some of my favorites: Persuasion by Jane Austen (Romantic, emotional, love it ๐Ÿ™‚ ), Don Quixote by Miguel De Cervantes (Absolutely hilarious! Seriously!! People had great humor in the 1600s too :D), Letters of John Newton by Josiah Bull (I wrote down so many quotes from his letters; they’re filled with practical truth. I love the way he writes! This is one of my top favorites), The Chronicles of Narnia by C.S. Lewis (Classics :D. You never outgrow enjoying them! And I love the illustrations in it as well :D), and The Hobbit by J.R.R. Tolkien (I personally like it better than the Lord of the Rings trilogy, even though I still love the trilogy. The Hobbit is very exciting :D).

So, what are some of y’all’s favorite books? With a smile,
{ Rachel Leigh }P.S. Happy first day of March!! ๐Ÿ˜€

    I love hardcover books too!!

    Lord of the Rings
    The Pursuit of God (A.W. Tozer)
    Chronicles of Narnia
    The Circle Trilogy (Ted Dekker)
    Heaven is For Real (Todd & Colton Burpo)

    There are others…my favorites tend to lie in the fantasy realm, though. I'm actually not a big fan of classics (you couldn't pay me enough to read Charles Dickens or Mark Twain).

    Oh my goodness! You like Persuasion? I absolutely LOVED it! Much more so than Emma and I really did like Emma, too. It was absolutely stunning — Jane Austen is one of my favorite authors ever. And I love The Hobbit as well! It seems as if I've found another kindred spirit. ๐Ÿ™‚

    Have you heard of The Christy Miller Series?

  4. Amber Noella: I haven't actually.

    I love The Scarlet Pimpernel! Also, I'm planning to read The Four Loves by C.S. Lewis because I've heard it recommended so many times!

    Found you on Jessica's blog. ^_^ Keep up the good work.
