Today we go back to a sunny day in June, by the Louisiana coast, when the adorable sweethearts David and Jordan finally became man and wife :).
And thanks to Olivia Marie for being my travel buddy and second shooter!
“We met in 2014, at the end of our Senior year. Everything was the Lord.
My Aunt and Uncle moved to Arkansas right out of College and started looking for a church. Eventually He led them to the same church that David and his family go to. So, in March of 2014, my family went up to visit my Aunt, Uncle, and their little boy. On Wednesday, the fifth of March, we went to church with them and that’s where I first met him. I walked into the fellowship hall (where they had Wednesday night service) and into the room passed this really tall guy. I knew who he was because my Aunt had told me about him. But I was too nervous to actually stare at him… lol!! David told me he does not remember us passing each other then. But apparently he tried to introduce himself to me right after the service as I was passing by… and I don’t recall that. Anyway, after church my family, my Aunt, Uncle, and their little boy, the Smiths, and David and his family all stayed after to play the instruments in church. We kept exchanging awkward, trying to be subtle, glances (because we hadn’t met yet) haha. He was playing the guitar and I was trying to hide behind my baby cousin and a plant on the stage. Well, finally after they stopped playing… I still didn’t talk to him. Lol. I talked to Seth and Mrs. Pam until we were all making our way to the door. Then, once everyone finished talking, the tall, shy, and polite guy comes and introduces himself to every single one of us. My mom was first and I was last, I still remember being impressed with his ability to look us all in the eye, be respectful, and actually talk. I knew how it felt to blush and want to just walk away, but he didn’t. I also knew many guys who were anything but polite and respectful, so it was encouraging to see a young man who possessed character.
Leaving literally minutes after to come back home, we became Facebook friends… LOL! Our relationship was special to me from the beginning because he was always such an encouragement to me. He would pray for me and send me scripture daily, so, when I decided it was time for me to pray and ask God if he was ‘The One’ He had for me I didn’t want to. I knew he was the one I wanted, but I eventually told myself that being in God’s will is more important that a relationship. So, I prayed and asked God to show me if David was my future husband and give me the answer regardless of what I wanted. The Lord gave me such a peace and told me that David was ‘The One’… in 2014. So, yeah, I’ve been ready to marry him since then. He asked my mom to date me in September of that year, then asked my mom to take my hand in marriage the following year on my birthday (October 10th) both in person. He is the love of my life and I’m so thankful God saw fit to bring us together.”
“Jordan is my whole world. She is everything to me. I couldn’t ask for anyone else. She is so kind, loving, and caring. And what I love about her is her heart because she has such a tender loving heart towards me and also other people.”
“David is a kind and quiet soul. He’s honest, humble, true, and loves his family. He is extremely trustworthy and compassionate to everyone around him. Most admirable of all. He loves his Savior and is not ashamed to share the good news of salvation to others.
I don’t know where to start really. I love that he is honest and true. David is a constant. He’s my person. From the first day we met, I was impressed with his character. He’s not the outgoing type of guy but I LOVE him for that. His time is precious to me and he loves me in such a tender way. He’s never afraid to say sorry and that is something that means a lot to me. He knows how to bust some interesting moves and keep me rolling. Even though he is very, very, VERY corny he knows I can’t resist laughing at his jokes and very often at him. He is my best friend and the Lord has blessed me with the strongest yet most gentle man. I’m so thankful that I get to spend the reset of my life with a man I’ve prayed for for many years, a man I know God chose for me, a man that has prayed for me and with me, and a man that will lead our family closer to the Lord. I look forward to building our life together, whatever the Lord has planned. Thank you for the wonderful memories we share, David, and for making the future something to look forward to. I love you, David.
With a smile,
